Fontaine of kelpie Valentine

There is a unique fountain in Trenčín on Štúrovo Square, from which the watercress Valentín shouts at all passers-by.
Aquarius Valentine is a fairy-tale little man dressed in a typical Hastrman hat and tailcoat. Aquarius Valentín climbs out of the well and sprays water from his mouth at regular intervals. Aquarius is not only a great attraction, but also a pleasant refreshment during hot summer days.
This statue of Valentine dates from 1998 and has an interesting and engaging reputation.
She tells the story: “The waterman got lost here from faraway Moravia and fell in love with the gingerbread house Anička.
Anička returned her love to him.
However, their common happiness was hindered by the inhabitants of the town, who did not like the waterman.
One day, however, the gingerbread house of Anička started to burn.
Of course, Vodník did not hesitate and hurried to Váh and opened new springs from under the ground, which put out the fire.
Anička survived the disaster, but Vodník no longer. "
And so, at the places where the water flowed, the then inhabitants of the city had wells built. In memory of the heroic and brave Waterman, they later erected a statue with his portrait.
