Synagogue
In the past, the presence of the Jewish community was an integral part of the city of Trenčín.
The Trenčín Synagogue reminds us of it.
The synagogue in Trenčín is one of the most beautiful and interesting works of its kind in Slovakia.
The historic building with Byzantine and Moorish-Oriental elements is located on Ľudovít Štúr Square, on the site of an old wooden synagogue from 1781.
In the past, the synagogue was used for neological purposes until World War II.
Opposite the synagogue is a longitudinal building, which has housed a public Jewish school since 1868.
The synagogue underwent a few reconstructions and in 1990 a small prayer house was restored in the back.
